I believe that Ryan Tan and I (of course, Job is to be excluded) are the only ones currently living up civilian life. Soon, I will be the only one after I do my NAPFA at Toa Payoh Stadium tomorrow. I have been working and found pieces of the last two years slowly creeping into myself and my office. hi all thought i'll help celestine to keep this blog alive cos.. its sinking into oblivion and i guess it must be boring for celestine to keep talking... to herself. :)

ok the most most recent hwachong thing i did was to go back for the campfire night a few weeks ago? and now ares has a new design for fac tee!!! except its only available to juniors 2008 and not for sale yet. so wanted to buy. oh yeah i dunno whether i have the day off for chuxi so dunno whether can join in hci's cny celebrations. but will try my best though.

anyway. for those that didnt go for the campfire(which means the entire class except for ryan tan, celest and chuanhan. u evil beings why didnt u go???) u missed out on quite a lot of stuff. gossip first. now hci 08 classes have until s6v. yup rub ur eyes and see it clearly. 08S6V see i even bolded it. siao imber lar why does everyone think that physics is so appealing? anw now hc donated S6(R,T,U,V) [correct me if im wrong] to apollo so we're officially the smallest fac. and understandably got raped badly at wargames. sigh.

teachers wise ms ong is teaching human geog haha. and geog dept is under manpower shortage so mr white got roped in to teach our juniors as well. haha. and auggie is teaching our juniors lit as well. haha if u guys feel kind enough u can give/sell them our lit notes (they're still doing poe and coleridge. our favourite guys)

juniors 07 are still behaving like juniors 07. :) while everyone was enjoying the hwachong spirit in the inner/outer plaza singing loyal, patritoic chinese huachu songs they were at class bench playing bridge. that's the hwachong spirit for us lol. sooner or later i bet they're going to corrupt the 08 people into bringing poker cards to school and playing it during break. and then half of them went away giving excuses like "jon's house is on fire. he went back to save his money. and we are going back to help him to put out the fire" RIGHT. too tired of waiting for singing to end i bet. and jon's brother is in the junior class so they're officially the richest class i hci history i guess. jts? go jon's house. stj? go jon's house too. LOL LOL LOL. And victor has a driving license. (and im still taking lessons. wth) but its quite cool for him! now he can ferry the class people to stj or whatever.

so we had ice cream after the 08 grandjuniors finished their singing and cheering and whatever then went to some ice cream place to enjoy ourselves. took photos and ryan tried to make friends with the junior girls. (wink)and everyone else. and we had a good time poking fun and telling people about our crazy class and teachers and tradition and other crap. haha found out that my rv junior is in the 08 class as well! erps dun like to refer to myself as grandsenior cos it makes me sound... horribly old.

so there you go. a long winded update about hci and A11. Have to say i miss the wackiness of our class. see u guys soon!

And while the singaporean guys are all slogging in NS, here's JOB who's having a roll of a time in bali and sumatra backpacking and having hair extentions. He wants to share the love. And he wants to share his hair extentions with everyone too!

Thats job for you, and he really loves his hair extentions! Beautiful, he says. HAHA job you're so funny you're missed pls stop tramping around indonesia and come back to spore!

His rationale for his hair extentions is that while all the army guys have to shave off their lovely mop of hair, he can indirectly laugh at them as he has hair extentions instead.

heyy for prom on which hotel to go right.. i just went to check the relc international hotel room rates..
it's like $128 per room per night. Both double and twin standard rooms cost $128 and there's hot buffet breakfast included..but only for 2 pple la.
i stayed there last year before when my taiwan buddy was staying there..the rooms are quite big n facilities are not bad also. it's like 10-15min walk to shangri-la hotel..so do you all want?

if want tell me quick ok, i can ask my parents to help book 2 rooms first.

Hi its kaii here and I have a few things on the agenda!

1) Free on 30 Nov, Friday? Let's go to SENTOSA and have a good time under the sun! Bring your skates, skate scooters, tanning lotions, soccer balls, volleyballs, whatever balls, junk food etc. Oh and a sound system lol, to create lots of noise pollution around us. Tentatively, 1030 am at Harbourfront MRT control station. We can go shopping for food before making our way down. Entrance fee is $3 if I'm not wrong. Bring extra money for food, and for renting equipment like bikes and/or skates! Date will be subject to changes if a lot of people still can't make it. Please tell me/celestine on Mon whether you can/cannot make it so we can collate numbers :)

2) On behalf of celest, the updated dates for BATAM will be 8-10 Dec, in deference to LKY's request. Possible chalet still in the works :p

3) Ok this is publicity for PROM. As is to be expected, my friend zhongwei will be working hard during prom! If you would like to retain mementos of the event, he will be selling DVDs of all photos taken (by 3 different photographers) that night, which will be properly edited such that that pimple doesn't appear on the big screen. Each individual DVD is priced at $12, BUT if we order as a whole table, orders will be at a discounted price of $10 each, ie $100/table. Orders can be placed on the day itself cos I think there'll be a booth, but also means you'll have to pay on the spot too. The DVDs will be available after 2 working weeks, and can be collected at a mrt station nearest to you i think. If you're really lazy, they will deliver to your doorstep provided you top up the payment to $15. See there's a price for laziness.

I know most of us will be bringing our own cameras along on the day to camwhore, but by ordering the DVD you get professionally taken (and edited) photos of yourself, and of the various members of the cohort too! Good way to keep memories eh :) and I think the price is quite worth it lah. So think about it! And if you want, order as a table to take advantage of the cheap rate!

I am writing to highlight a pertinent issue which may inconvenience regular ‘patrons’ of our luxurious lavatories - the issue of the missing toilet paper. In most respectable public toilets, a roll of toilet paper is placed within each toilet cubicle. However, the toilets in the College Section most curiously lack this basic amenity; a huge roll of toilet paper is mounted outside the cubicles near the sinks instead. This greatly inconveniences students, who have to accumulate a sizeable mound of toilet paper from this roll before entering the cubicle to relieve themselves.

Inconvenience aside, this situation tends to lead to considerable wastage of toilet paper (visible from the very obvious casualties of past ‘accumulations’ - mounds of toilet paper haphazardly strewn across the cubicle ledges). This most troubling situation has even led the school library authorities to place a notice in the library toilet requesting students not to waste toilet paper in such a manner. This is a tall order, however, as most of us do have trouble estimating the amount of paper we require, down to the very last perforation (and think of the horror if we actually did run out of toilet paper!). Thus, we would prefer to err on the side of caution.

I propose the most obvious solution of placing individual rolls of toilet paper within each cubicle (of course, not as big as the huge roll currently placed in the open beside the sinks). This would definitely make our experience more pleasant and reduce wastage of toilet paper, perhaps reducing the amount of time students spend at our luxurious lavatories and allowing us to be more environmentally friendly.

i can finally log in to blogger!

first, a few history announcements:

1. there is quek lecture on 4th sept for mock prelims postmortem. those who can make it indicate on the tagboard so he knows what the turnout'll be like. ok, he never tell me the time!

2. mr quek has uploaded the ans schemes for all the essay outlines we've been going through on ivle. go get 'em.

3. hist fund has changed to $10 in light of the huge debt we owe the photocopying lady because mr teh's notes cost us a bomb, and also because of the presents.

4. i assume everyone's returning to sch on tues for consultations :D? when u come back u can pay and write notes for mr teh and quek and we can take a photo with mr teh (for the present)! so come back ok! we'll discuss a time to meet and wadever.

Well this is it, LAST DAY OF SCHOOL TMR. Ms How made me feel like crying. ): Ms Li too.

Anyway, welfare rep has an idea. Next yr's chinese new year lets go visit ms how, and the other teachers! Class gathering as well. This way we can keep in touch with them (: Yup and everyone, next friday isnt a school day for us but its teachers' day celebration and well, can everyone come to school? We'd give out the stuff then and me tamsyn and chuanhan talked, we could order pizza or macs or smth in school and have a class lunch, with the teachers if they want to join us? Just spare an afternoon haha. It'll be nice. Any opinons? It could replace our picnic-that-never-took-place heh. Hahaha.

Dearest a11, UPDATES.

A number of us are playing BADMINTON tomorrow after school, the more the merrier so come come thank you! We could make it a weekly thing, de-stress lol.

PROM, currently we've 12 people who are sitting with the class. 6 girls, 6 guys. But we've a problem because we're supposed to form tables of 10 so its gonna be tough. Can i appeal to anyone who has friends who've groups of 8, or even better, 2 groups of 4 so we could join with them. To those who arent going, pls do consider again! Its really a once-in-a-lifetime kinda thing. Deadline's nx friday, and if we want to get good tables we really have to settle it soon. Its getting to be quite a headache. ): Help.

Oh yeah, we're also going to book a hotel room on 4th dec so we can all go stayover after prom. Anyone has any good contacts or ideas? I checked, Shangri-La's about $400++ so it would be quite reasonable if you divide it by about 20 people. There are other alternatives though. Can go online to check i'm not thattt sure how it works. Lol.

Also, we're planning a CLASS CHALET after a lvls and prom! (: (: Dates are tentatively 6, 7, 8th DECEMBER which is a thursday, friday and saturday. Pls pls keep yourselves free? Some of us have discussed, we'd get a cheap chalet somewhere in changi (i'm not sure what its called yet) but rates are almost $50 per night so, we'd have more money for FOOD! Hahaha. What say you guys? It'll be fun, we'll make it fun! Anyone has any opinions or anything just say alright.

on a happier note, these are the photos from the girls outing to seoul garden on wed!

first photo of the afternoon! chuanhan and tamsyn cooking and eating. you can see that we were very enthu in going to grab food when we started. ended up with xinlei having to secrectly tabao the leftover sushi AHAHAH.

ok you can't really tell frm here, but this crabstick was from kx's table and it was boiled in the soup for too long so it came out all expanded and HUGE-ASS. hahaha! so funny.

this was a our-side-of-the-table photo! me xinlei and kx, and i think xinlei looks like a psycho.

HEY HISTORY PEOPLE:

some of you have gotten the i-thought-it-was-completed-but-i-printed-wrongly set of UN notes compiled by ourselves. erm, congratulations. those people are ryantan, vernon and daniel. yeahh as you can see, due to my sucky photocopying skills, some pages are missing. whoops. so i'll print the missing pages tmr and if you're in sch drop me a message and i'll pass them to you. if not then can get on wed lah. in the meantime, just add daniel and tim's general assembly notes (2 pieces which i gave before school closed) to the set first.

super nice right?? haha its pebble beach if my memory serves.
a very very lit photo (i feel). but still nice. its still in pebble beach but more of the interior portion. anw pebble beach is this "gated communities" where rich people live in USD $5 MILLION houses alongside a golf course and this fantastic sea view. you get the idea.

this is a lucky day. we went to hollywood boulvard and guess what?? apparently the AFI (american flim institute) was holding its awards ceremony there!! but we came too early though (afternoon 3pm to 6pm) so we didnt get to see any stars. just cameramen, security people in their tuxedoes and other unknown guests decked out from head to toe in branded goods. and limousines (i counted 6). we koped the red carpet for a quick photo. =)

Yosemite falls. CHIO pic right?? haha but my camera could only capture the upper fall (lower falls hidden by the trees lar). in yosemite national park. i forgot the river name.

and finally lombard street. the world's most crookedest street. imagine driving at a 60 degree inclined slope, navigating through like 9 sharp turns.. reciepe for disaster.

erm right im just spamming photos. oh no xinlei why cant u log in!

right first pic up is a rotational slump (i think geoggers would know) in san mateo county. quite cool to see a roataional slump up close and personal. alright then we have macys cheesecake from the cheesecake factory... its super delicious, the cheese is sooo smooth and nice and they give big big chunks of oreos.. yup then went to usgs (united states geological survey) for some talks and such. quite a nice place and they have a VAST collection of maps. i never saw so many maps before in a place. plus its also quite cool to visit the place where all ur notes are coming from.

aha. then we have the golden gate bridge. its a landmark of san fransicso. so we took lots of photos there lar.

i witnessed 3 rainbows!!! this is the first one. it occurred during a climb up vernal falls in yosemite national park. a really beautiful place but prone to flooding and rockfalls. and its bigger than singapore =.="

nice bougainvilla background and lots of water. you would think that in san francisco there's a drought or something. haha no la.. the teachers bougt 2 gallons of water for everyone but between me songping and xinlei we finished 8 gallons in 12 days, that's like about 30l of water?? haha. ok i admit i drank the bulk of it.

pretty lavender flowers u never see in singapore. i think temperate climates are more suitable for growing pretty flowers. the circle as well as the air above it is an important part of UC Berkeley as it is not part of any country or government therefore not subject to any entity's jursidction.. meaning u are free to say what you want to say. think speakers corner without seeking permits from the police station. i guess galven can camp there forever.

the Tan Kah Kee hall we found it in UC Berkeley. haha so strange right? why is a Singaporean doing in an American University?!? heh. i got a shock too. We went google on the third day and toured the company. Google is great lar.. they have free food for every meal a wacky and relaxed company culture and well.. sort of reminds me of our class in fact.

went to hollywood and guess what? DONALD has a star! he'a famous!!! and apparently ha also started a hotel with his (ahem) friend in san francisco. haha.. me and xinlei just burst out laughing when we saw the hotel name.

oh well this would perhaps be my first and last post in the whole of may. anw many thanks to those who wished me get well soon the past few days. =)

butbut.. anw im a bit desperate now cos i have a spare $16 ticket to the choir concert this sun at esplanade (go kaii, donald, lilin rock the house!) so to anyone who has not tried to support them or suddenly find themselves free this sun or find themselves $16 richer or whatever (my creative juices have run out) haha want to buy over my ticket? fortunately u can sit with the class. and cheer together. :) while im confined in my lonely solitary world at home eating my bitter chinese medicine. ):

hello my dear 06a11,

i know i have been missing from school life for the longest time, and so sometimes when i am at home i can't help thinking 'what is my crazy class doing now?'

sometimes i look at the pictures you all take when i'm not around, and missing school suddenly seems to be worse than what everybody thinks it's like, simply because i am away from all you crazy people.

haha i wish school was less about work than about spending quality time with the class, then i obviously would be coming to school more often. i'm sufferring from a horrible aversion to work and lessons now. ok, actually lessons are fine, but work isn't haha. frankly, the post-SYF blues are really suffocating me now. i can't believe my choir life is going to come to an end just like that. feels like an extremely integral part of me is being removed. and the only thing i can concentrate on now is my schoolwork, which is so BLEAH. it's the hardest thing to do now especially since i chose to forgo school for syf haha. but i will get my momentum back, soon. and when i do, i hope we'll have lots of happy memories as a class that will really define our last months together (:

yayy!! these are the class girls who went for the first night of dance night! pris we're so proud of you, you danced really well.

and the poor chinese dancers were so screwed by the PA people for one of their items. boo at any PA people you see around AHAHHAHA.

yeah, but watching the syf pieces was a great experience, it made me want to stand up and dance too.

for all those who didn't go dance night, erm, you missed out on a lot.

Tamsyn and the hc tennis girls are in the finals of their tournament, CONGRATULATIONS!
Just fyi, the finals are next wednesday, at kallang. HC VS RJ, 2.00pm.

HELLOHELLO EVERYONE.

Yesterday night we had quite an entertaining mass convo initiated by our dear ryan tan, for those who were online. And after some deliberation, we've decided to have a CLASS PICNIC, under the very nice tree near our classs bench on FRIDAY, 4TH MAY. It would be held after school (or after the history test if there is one), around 1-3, so everyone pls make yourselves available! (: So that it would be successful. Bring cameras, we're in need of photos.

If anyone can contribute food, pls do! We're gonna have CAVIAR, fishtank food (sandwiches, pastry etc), chips, soft drinks, CAKE.

Galven's and Clement's birthday falls on the 5th may so we're gonna celebrate on friday. And also, encouragement for all the people who have syf and competitions coming up the following week, namely kaixuan donald lilin chuanhan job tamsyn. Plus, most importantly, CLASS BONDING, we havent had a class outing/gathering in ages. Hahaha.

More chances for class outings coming up too:
- DANCE NIGHT, 19th may, chinese high audi
- CHOIR CONCERT, 27th may, esplanade

Lets all try to go for both okay, support pris and our singers kaixuan donald and lilin. Mark those dates in our calenders, and dinner before the concerts? (: Should be pretty fun if a lot of people go.

Okay hello. Pretty old photos from chinese new year. a11 visitation! It would have been great if everyone could make it but still it was fun. About half the class came. Thank you to ryan and his aunty, we all enjoyed ourselves! (: Maybe next year we can do it again lol. If he allows.
